Tanner Carrick Snags Fifth and Ninth Place Finishes in California

PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending his weekend running the family sprint car in California, Tanner Carrick would rally to finish ninth on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway before picking up a fifth-place finish on Sunday at Marysville Raceway.

“We had a ton of speed over the weekend, we just go behind the eighth ball and put myself in a couple of tough starting spots,” Tanner Carrick said.

Saturday night in Placerville, CA, the Lincoln, CA driver would time this CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in fourth fastest in his qualifying group. Picking up a third-place finish in his heat race, Carrick punched his ticket directly into the 30-lap feature event where he took the green flag from the outside of the sixth row.

Racing into turns one and two when the green flag was dropped, Carrick would find himself getting shoved over the cushion and off the racing surface and slipping to the back of the pack.

With his work now cut out for himself, Carrick went to work on the ¼ mile bullring that offered up multiple grooves, and some slick and heavy patches. With his elbows up, Carrick showcased a strong entry as he made up his lost ground.

Fighting towards the Top-10, Carrick would take over the ninth spot late in the race, where he would ultimately go on to finish.

Running in Marysville, CA on Sunday night, Carrick would get timed in sixth quickest in qualifying time trials before racing to a third-place finish in his heat race.

Lining up 10th in the feature event, Carrick would put on a good charge on the very racy Marysville Raceway surface. Despite battling steering issues, Carrick was able to carve his way forward and get into the Top-Five.

Hooking up in a very entertaining battle for fourth with Shane Hopkins, the duo would exchange the position lap after lap as they each threw big moves on each other and were able to counter one and other in a highspeed game of chess.

In the end, Carrick capped his night and his weekend, with a fifth-place finish.

“We were fast in both main events, it is just tough to pass that many good cars and drivers,” Carrick said. “Thanks to my guys for their hard work, and giving me a really fund car to drive.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 9, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 6

ON TAP: Carrick will now head to Indiana for USAC Indiana Midget Week starting Tuesday night in Paragon, IN.
