Tanner Carrick Second at Hall Memorial with Sprint Car Challenge Tour

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Marysville, CA, Tanner Carrick nearly pulled off a clean sweep with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in Marysville, CA but a minor misstep in lapped traffic resulted in a runner up finish for the Lincoln, CA driver.

“We had such a good car all night, I just made a wrong decision in traffic, and when you’re racing someone like Justin Sanders he is typically able to capitalize and he did just that,” Tanner Carrick said.

Earning quick time honors in his qualifying flight on Saturday aboard the CVC/Cemex/California Waterfowl backed No. 83T, Tanner Carrick was able to advance from his fourth starting spot in his heat race and win.

New in 2024, any driver who able to do just that will earn the best starting spot available in the Dash, and for Carrick that put him on the pole.

Getting the jump when the Dash came to life, Carrick never looked back as he powered his way to the win, and earned the pole for the 35-lap Mel and Marlyn Hall Memorial feature event.

The feature event was mired by stoppages and struggled to get into a flow. When the race was under green, Carrick was very strong out front as he nailed each restart and gave himself some breathing room.

When the race got into an extended green flag run just past the halfway point, traffic did become a factor and it allowed Sanders to close in on his rear bumper. On the 23rd lap, Carrick got stuck behind a slower car which broke his momentum enough to allow Sanders to power away.

A late green, white, checkered restart gave Carrick one final opportunity to try and make a run at the lead, but on this night he settled for a second place finish.

“We have been in the mix almost every night we have unloaded and that is a huge testament to Clark and my team,” Carrick added. “Looking forward to two big nights at Placerville Speedway this weekend.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 22, Wins: 4, Top 5’s: 13, Top 10’s: 17

ON TAP: Carrick heads to Placerville Speedway this weekend for the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial. Friday night he will be in action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, and Saturday night he will take on the NARC series.
