PETERSEN MEDIA: After a tough go with High Limit Racing on Wednesday night in Tulare, CA, Tanner Carrick headed north to take part the Placerville Speedway season opener on Saturday night where he scored a third place finish in the feature event.
“We continued to have great speed in the 360 car, but unfortunately the redraw wasn’t kind to us and it was a tricky track to make up ground,” Tanner Carrick said. “I was trying everything I could to get going forward but a podium is good and we will try and be a few spots better with the SCCT this weekend.”
Amidst 30 cars on hand for the first event of the season at Placerville Speedway, Tanner Carrick laid down a great lap in qualifying time trials as he earned quick time honors and lined up in the second row of his heat race.
Finishing third in his heat, Carrick was locked into the feature event and based on his qualifying efforts he earned a spot in the redraw where the five pill placed him in the third row for the 25-lap affair.
Though the track was extremely heavy early in the night, It did widen out a little for the feature even but was still fairly fast and tricky to pass on. Enduring some early stoppages, Carrick began to go to work on the bullring as the race got into a rhythm.
Running a unique line in turns three and four, Carrick would enter the corner about the cushion and turn down in the middle of set and make a long straight away as he tried to build momentum up to get a few more spots in turns one and two.
Able to grab a couple of positions over the course of the feature event, Carrick capped the night off with a third place finish.
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 8, Wins:0, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 3
