Tanner Carrick Scores 4th Place Finish at Silver Cup

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting right back to racing action over the weekend, Tanner Carrick was knocked out of the Friday night feature event in the opening laps, but came out swinging on Saturday night before finishing fourth in the feature.

“We had a really good weekend in Chico, CA aside from getting a little torn up on Friday night in the opening laps of the feature event,” Tanner Carrick said. “Clark and everyone worked very hard, and it was great to have a fast racecar.”

Enduring contact during the opening laps of Friday night’s feature that left Carrick in the infield and with a ‘DNF’, the Lincoln, CA runner was back in action on Saturday night, and hit the ground running.

Timing the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in third quickest in time trials, Carrick went on to thrill the fans in his heat. Lining up fourth, Carrick had his elbows up and powered his way to an electrifying heat race win. By doing so, Carrick not only transferred to the feature, but he locked himself onto the pole of the Dash by winning his heat from the fourth starting spot.

Leading the field to green in the Dash, Carrick was just as strong as he was in his heat as he raced to the win, and earned the pole for the 35-lap feature event.

When the green flag was displayed to the field, Carrick was hard on the throttle as he jumped out to the early lead. Out front Carrick looked very strong as he was poised to score another win at Silver Dollar Speedway.

As the laps clicked on, Carrick started to fight a car that was getting tight on him in the race’s closing laps.

On the 25th lap, Carrick lost the lead as he wrestled his machine around the bullring. Losing a couple of spots in the final laps, the Lincoln, CA driver was able to hang on and cap his weekend off with a fourth place finish.

“I think we had one of the fastest cars in the field all weekend long,” Tanner Carrick said. “We had a bleeder gives us fits on Saturday, and when it stuck I think that changed out car enough to let those guys get by late in the race.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 4, Wins:0, Top 5’s: 1, Top 10’s: 1
