Tanner Carrick Picks Up A Pair of Top-5’s As He Returns to Racing in the Golden State

PETERSEN MEDIA: After spending a couple of weeks in the Midwest taking part in Southern Iowa Speedweek, as well as the High Limit Series’ inaugural event, and the Jackson Nationals, Tanner Carrick returned to racing in the Golden State over the weekend and picked up a pair of Top-Five’s as action heats up over the next few weeks.

“We had a good trip to the Midwest, and I really feel like we are so much better when we get back home because of it,” Tanner Carrick said. “We had really good speed both Friday night in Chico, CA and Saturday night in Placerville, CA and it has us eager to get these next few weeks underway.”

Traveling to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA on Friday night, Carrick would find himself battling against 44 other competitors in the final event before next week’s Gold Cup Race of Champions.

Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T in fastest in his qualifying group and that lined him up on the front row of his heat race. Powering his way to the win, Carrick advanced to the Bike Race Dash where his sixth-place finish put him in the third row of the 30-lap feature event.

Going green from sixth, Carrick kept his mount well inside the Top-10 from the onset of the race. Slipping back to seventh early, Carrick would work sixth by the seventh lap.

Slipping back to seventh just past the halfway point, Carrick made a nice move on the 25th lap to work his way into the Top-5. Grabbing another position on the 28th lap, Carrick capped his Friday night off with a fourth-place finish.

Saturday night the scene shifted to Placerville, CA for the track’s regular season points finale. Another robust car count was in play as 44 total cars checked in for ‘Legends Night’.

Timing in 10th fastest overall in qualifying, and 5th in his group, Carrick would line up on the front row of his heat race. Getting called for a false start on the initial attempted start, the Lincoln, CA driver was moved back to the second row where he would ultimately finish fourth.

Transferring to the feature, Carrick missed out on a berth into the redraw and he rolled off the starting grid from the 14thposition.

On a slick racing surface, Carrick would shine as he carved his way forward from his mid-pack starting spot. Racing into the Top-10 on the ninth lap, Carrick would battle for ninth and 10th for several laps before he used a restart to move into eight. Just as he did on Friday night in Chico, CA, Carrick got stronger in the closing stages of the race.

Moving into seventh on the 19th lap, Carrick then took over sixth on the 21st marker. Battling with Dominic Scelzi in the final laps, Carrick was able to beat him to the checkered flag in a drag race as he capped his night off with a fifth-place finish.

“Saturday night we kind of got the raw end of a heat race call, and for some reason it feels like that has happened to us few times this year, and it put us in a hole for the feature,” Carrick said. “Missing out on a good shot to get into the redraw, we ended dup starting pretty deep but still ran up to the front. Thanks to my guys for the hard work”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 44, Wins: 4, Top 5’s: 18, Top 10’s: 24

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick will return to Placerville Speedway this Saturday and Sunday for the NorCal Posse Shootout.
