PETERSEN MEDIA: While he was missing in action last weekend at Placerville Speedway while he was competing in Watsonville, CA, Saturday night Tanner Carrick returned to his winning ways at the famed bullring as he picked up his third consecutive win at the track in convincing fashion.
“I keep saying it, but Placerville was a place that was so tough on me for some many years,” Tanner Carrick said. “To have the success this year really is a testament to how hard this team has worked, and how hard I’ve worked personally to figure the place out.”
With 29 cars on hand, Carrick would go out late in time trials. Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in 12th fastest in time trials, the Lincoln, CA product would find himself in a great spot as he would line up on the front row of his heat race.
Needing to pick up the win in heat race competition, Carrick would do just that as he looked very impressive on the slick surface. Moving into the redraw, Carrick would have lady luck riding with him as the ‘two’ pill placed him on the front row of the feature event alongside Willie Croft.
With the track undergoing a quick grooming session before the feature event, Carrick still had the game plan of using the high-side early in the feature on this night despite the bottom being good to him the last two races he was in attendance.
When the race came to life, Carrick got off to a great start as he launched ahead of Croft heading into turn one and put his right-rear up on the thick Placerville Speedway cushion that had built up around the speedway.
Setting a torrid pace out front, Carrick would reach the back of the field in just six laps and begin working through traffic and keeping the field at bay. The first half of the race would click off with the issues at all, but the yellow would finally fly on the 13th lap and put the field in double file formation.
Opting to the bottom on the double file restart, Carrick would continue to keep the field behind him as he rocketed away until another stoppage on the 15th lap. Again choosing the bottom, Carrick would motor away from the field as he had now began working the bottom groove of the speedway.
Using the moisture down low, Carrick would continue to create a sizeable gap until one final stoppage came on the 22nd circuit. With the field now in single file formation, Carrick would hit the bottom to perfection during the final three laps and safely secure his third consecutive win at the speedway.
“The last three times we have been here, I have been able to roll the bottom when need be, and pound the curb when I have to,” Carrick said. “Saturday night we needed to be good at both and Clark, Lucas, and the guys made sure we had a car that was. Big thanks to them, and thanks to all of the partners who allow us to do this.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
