Tanner Carrick Records Fifth and Sixth Place Finishes During Rain-Shortened USAC PA Midget Week

Though rain shortened the schedule PA Midget Week from four nights to two over this past weekend, Tanner Carrick and his Keith Kunz Motorsports team made the most of the two nights they did get in as Carrick ran sixth on Saturday night at Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway and Fifth on Sunday at BAPS Motor Speedway.

“It was a bummer that the first two nights got rained out, but we ran pretty well during the two that we were able to get in,” Tanner Carrick said.

Saturday night in Newmanstown, PA at Lanco’s Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway, Carrick would time the CVC/TRD/Spike Chassis No. 71K machine in eighth quickest during qualifying time trials.

Racing his way to a second place finish in heat race competition, Carrick would move into the feature event where he pushed off from the eighth starting position.

On a fast racing surface, Carrick would mix it up with fellow USAC National Midget drivers Justin Grant and Brady Bacon as they fought ferociously inside the Top-10. As the 40-lap affair came to a close, Carrick would close Saturday night out with a sixth place finish.

Sunday night the scene shifted to York Haven, PA where the series invaded BAPS Motor Speedway for the final night out East.

Getting off to a great start, the former Rookie of the Year would time his potent Keith Kunz Motorsports entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials which would set a great tone for the rest of the night ahead.

Working his way forward to finish third in his eight-lap heat race, Carrick took the green flag for the 30-lap affair from the fifth starting position alongside teammate Spencer Bayston.

Holding down fifth when the action kicked off, Carrick would run well inside the Top-Five as he battled Alex Bright and Bayston at times. Staying well inside the Top-Five on this night, Carrick would hold on to pocket his ninth Top-Five finish with the KKM team as he closed a shortened PA Midget Week with a fifth place finish.

“I am luck to work with this team,” Carrick said. “Things have gone really well our last handful of nights out, and it is a lot of fun. I will get home again this weekend, but can’t wait to get back in the Midget and hopefully get back in victory lane soon.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank CVC, TRD, Spike Chassis, Cemex, Arai, and Shell Shock for their support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-25, Wins-2, Top 5’s-9, Top 10’s-17
