Tanner Carrick Scores Pair of Seventh Place Finishes at Louie Vermeil Classic

Racing in front of friends and family in Calistoga, CA on Saturday and Sunday night, Tanner Carrick would leave town with a pair of Top-10 finishes as he finished seventh during both nights at the Louie Vermeil Classic.

“It was a good weekend for the Keith Kunz Motorsports team,” Tanner Carrick said. “We ran really well, and it was cool to race this car in my home state.”

The two-night extravaganza kicked off on Saturday night with Carrick timing the TRD/Curb Records/Spike Chassis backed No. 71K machine in 14th quickest in time trials.

Finishing fifth in his heat race, the Lincoln, CA native would line up 13th in the 30-lap feature event that was set to take to the legendary ½ mile speedway located in the heart of the Napa Valley.

As the race came to life, Carrick was able to work his way forward on a track that had slicked off and taken a beating in what was an unseasonably hot weekend. Working around the bottom groove, Carrick was able to pick up spots as he was soon inside the Top-10.

Continuing to fight for more positions, Carrick would race his way to a seventh place finish to close out the Vermeil opener.

Back in action on Sunday night to close out the weekend, Carrick would get off to a very nice start as he timed the IPC/Walker Performance Filtration entry in fifth quickest in time trials.

Finishing second in his heat race, Carrick would find himself in the third row for the 30-lap Louie Vermeil Classic finale.

Mixing it up with some of the USAC Western States Midget drivers, Carrick would again run well on the ½ mile speedway. Keeping his machine well inside the Top-10 all night, Carrick would close out his weekend with a second consecutive seventh place finish.

“It was a fun two nights of racing,” Carrick said. “We have some Go Kart racing to do this week, and then we will be back in the sprint car on Wednesday night.”

Tanner Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank TRD, Curb Records, IPC, Walker Performance Filtration, Cemex, CVC, and Shell Shock for their support.
